The official Beginning.
Yesterday was a gift. It isn’t hard to toss up a few thoughts about a celebration, an event or a special occasions. Unfortunately, I’ve got nothing special on the calendar for the rest of this month and no real reason to expect I’ll have reason to celebrate.
That leaves me thirty days of blah, er, I mean blogging, and I’ve got to admit to a bit of performance anxiety.
Some bloggers are absolute naturals because they are industry professionals and have a ton of knowledge to share. I’m still sitting at the little kids table, and lately everything I’ve learned only serves to show me how very much I have yet to learn.
Other bloggers pull off daily posts because they are just damn funny and ‘on’ perpetually. I’m ‘on’ a fair bit, but every now and then I have days where I’m ‘off’ totally and have a hard time even offering up monosyllabic responses to questions. It doesn’t happen often. Sometimes when it does I can turn myself on—stop that! You know what I mean—but it can be an effort.
Finally, I gravitate to bloggers with a talent for openness and honesty. I’m not secretive but I don’t like to exhibit my weaknesses. Plus, I’ll be honest; I’ve seen people share things on blogs and writer’s forums that make me cringe. There is a line between honesty and spillage. I don’t want to cross it and show my ass in public. Soooo not me.
So what’ve we got? A semi-knowledgeable, sometimes ‘on’ relatively closed off writer struggling to open up, become more disciplined and learn enough to earn a seat at the big people table.
Hmm. I’ve got recipes too. And how about some pictures of my garden or dogs?
Why do you blog? And do you stick to a regular blog schedule or just post when the mood strikes and you have something special to share?

Re: Blogger Boot Camp
I stick to my blog schedule on Magical Musings, every Tuesday, but on my own I try to blog once a week. Last week I didn't want to take time from my revisions, so I skipped my personal blog. Everything post usually comes back to writing, the writing life, and sometimes movies or even TV. But then I'm talking about story or characters, so to me it's a similar topic.
Have fun blogging!

Re: Blogger Boot Camp
Well, lately I've had blogger's block. I have no idea what to talk about! I'm not sure I've talked about anything interesting for at least a year, LOL! Some changes are happening in my life, and that'll probably give me plenty of things to talk about, when it comes time. :-)

Re: Blogger Boot Camp
I try to post something at least once a week, but I'll admit it's a lot more fun (and easier to come up with things to say!) when there's a special event or occasion. And when there are giveaways. I always like doing that :).

Re: Blogger Boot Camp
Hi, Lainey! I think you've described me too. :) You're more knowledgeable though. I've been struggling to blog lately. I've just got nothin'. I wish I could come up with interesting/witty things to talk about, but lately it's not happening. (Not sure it ever did.) When I started blogging I had a plan, a schedule, and stuck to it. Now, well, posts have been few and far between. I do, however, love visiting here and enjoy reading whatever you have to say!
p.s. Recipes and photos are fine with me. :)

Hi Edie
You do a great job of keeping things writerly. That's part of what freezes me up about posting. I wanted to keep it on the writing but sometimes I have nothing to say about writing and other times what I do have to say doesn't bear repeating. :0
That's why I decided to try mixing it up and forcing myself to the blog. Just an experiment. Guess we'll see how it goes.

You're such a tease! Can't wait to hear about the exciting new changes in your life. And I always thought you had things to say. Always. I miss your blog.

Marilyn!
You do great giveaways and awesome interviews. I should probably plan a couple giveaways this month. Thanks for the idea!

Of course it did, Robin!
You have a terrific personal, professional and personable blog. I think you keep the perfect mis of writing related posts, nice shout outs for friends and authors and family tales. Stopping at your place is like visiting a friend.
And hey, where else can I vicariously enjoy Joe Montana spottings? =)
